Balblair Wood, Little Ferry

A wonderful family walk, easy going through the woods, and with an optional walk back along the coast where you can enjoy stunning views of Loch Fleet. You may have to walk this twice, once with the tide in and once with the tide out, to really appreciate the Loch's natural beauty.

Brora to Golspie coastal walk

Brora to Golspie is a coastal walk of 6 miles along a track that is not waymarked but which is easy to follow. As well as beautiful coastline there is an abundance of wildlife and birds to enjoy, not to mention the magnificent Dunrobin Castle. Good boots and clothing are recommended. The walk can be made in either direction, and easy parking is available in both Brora and Golspie. Please note that if the tide is out there is easy walking along firm sand for most of the way, but if the tide is full in there are stretches of difficult walking along stony shoreline, particularly south of Sputie Burn.

Ben Bhraggie

Ben Bhraggie overlooks the Highland village of Golspie and is easily recognisable because of the impressive monument at its summit which can be seen from five counties. At 1302 ft, and with a decent land rover track right to the summit, Ben Bhraggie is one of the easier hill walks, and can be enjoyed by anyone with reasonable fitness and with appropriate clothing and footwear. Don't underestimate the importance of this hill because of its ease of access - the views from the top can be quite breathtaking!

Ben Horn

Ben Horn, at 1706 ft, is a reasonable day's walk. As it is well off the beaten track you will see Sutherland from a totally unique perspective. On a clear day you can see from the Cairgorms all the way to the west coast, and sometimes you can even make out the unmistakeable shape of Ben Hope in the far north.  Walking is easy from Bridge of Horn to Loch Horn, and from the loch to the summit is fairly good going despite there being no track. Care should be taken in winter as drifting snow can make for very difficult conditions. Walking from Loch Brora is extremely difficult so it is recommended to walk from the Bridge of Horn in Dunrobin Glen.

Big Burn, Golspie

Just 10 minutes drive south of Brora, on the outskirts of Golspie, is the Big Burn walk through the woods and a dramatic gorge to the waterfall. This is a very easy walk at any time of year, with good paths and foot bridges in good repair. There is ample parking for over a dozen cars at the Golspie car park, and there is an additional car park along the Dunrobin Glen road from which you can access the Big Burn walks.

Glenview Point, Golspie

Glenview Point walk is a detour on the Ben Bhraggie walk, and could even be incorporated into the Ben Bhraggie walk if you were feeling fit and had an extra hour or two. The view from the point is of Ben Klibreck in the distance, and the top end of Dunrobin Glen. However, if you walk a few yards over to your right and crest the small hill, you will have a breathtaking view of the whole of Dunrobin Glen right down to Golspie and the sea.
