There are two brochs on the south banks of Loch Brora easily
accessible on foot with good clothing and proper footwear.
The second, Carrol Broch, is in
suprisingly good condition (see Carrol Broch). The first
broch however is now just a pile of rubble, most of the
original stonework having been plundered to build a
settlement nearby.
Access is along a private road on foot. Park at the Ford,
marked on the map, and keep to the track. Walkers are
welcome so be sure to protect this privilege by keeping dogs
on leads or leaving them at home, closing gates, not starting fires and taking your
litter home.
