Brochs Home Carn Bran Carn Liath Carrol Broch Cinn Trolla Loch Brora

There are two brochs on the south banks of Loch Brora easily accessible on foot with good clothing and proper footwear. The first broch is now just a pile of rubble, most of the original stonework having been plundered to build a settlement nearby (see Loch Brora Broch). The second, Carrol Broch, however is in suprisingly good condition.

Access is along a private road on foot. Park at the Ford, marked on the map, and keep to the track. Walkers are welcome so be sure to protect this privilege by leaving dogs at home, closing gates, not starting fires and taking your litter home. Access to Carrol Broch is over a stile straddling a high deer fence and following the banks of a stream. There is no footpath or track from the stile and walking is difficult.
